SARLAT

The capital of the Périgord Noir, where oaks, truffles and mushrooms abound.

The concentration of historic monuments in Sarlat la Canéda is unparalleled in France. The golden triangle of the Dordogne Valley is classified as a “Site Majeur d’Aquitaine” and four of the seven communes that make up this entity are classified as “Les plus beaux villages de France”.

This fracture zone between France and England in the Middle Ages favours the construction of castles facing one another on the Dordogne, especially those of Beynac and Castelnau.
